Innovative Septic System Alternative

Mound Sewer System Ramsey MNIf you have ever taken the time to study the back yards in Ramsey MN you might notice a large amount of Raised Septic Mounds. This is because a Mound System is often needed to Treat Sewage Waste in a cost effective way. The type of soil that you have on your property is a major factor in determining whether a Conventional Gravity Flow Septic System will work or if an Alternative Septic System is better suited. CSI Custom Septic, Inc. is well trained in ways to scientificall test the soil and Design and Install a Customized Sewer System that fits the needs of your family and surrounding community. Today’s Innovative Septic Systems can get the job done and work for decades with relatively little time and money going into maintenance.

What Is A Septic Mound System?

Without getting to scientific or technical, a Mound System can be described as a Septic System Alternative when a conventional onsite septic system cannot be used. It has a Raised Mound that contains things like Sand, Aggregate, Dirt, Fabric and Pipes.

In a typical Mound System Design, a pipe usually carries Organic Human Waste and Dirty Water from the home to a Septic Tank. Water is then allowed to flow out to a Dosing Chamber that has a Pump, Alarm and Switches to control the outflow of partially treated liquid waste. Water can be pumped out of the dosing chamber and up into a Sewer Mound. The liquids can filter down through Aggregate Material, Sand and Soil for further Organic Cleansing Treatment.

Mound System Components

Common Components of a Mound System include the following:

  • Sewage and Water from the home
  • Septic Tank
  • Dosing Chamber
  • Dosing Pump
  • High Water Alarm
  • Pump Switch
  • Outflow Pipe
  • Topsoil
  • Sand Fill
  • Aggregate Material
  • Subsoil
  • Observation Pipe

Why Would I Need A Mound System?

A Mound System is not the cheapest type of Onsite Sewage Treatment mechanism. Many homeowners can get by with a less expensive septic design that uses gravity and underlying soil to naturally remove harmful pathogens from sewer. However, certain conditions make a Mound Septic System necessary.

  • Poor Soil Conditions that drain either too fast or too slow
  • Shallow Soil that lies on top of porous stone or bedrock
  • High Water Table that increases the chances of polluting drinking water
